Vacancy: Farm Manager (Filled)


Pilgrim Ranch, a subsidiary of Afropoland Projects Ltd, invites interested candidates to apply for the position Farm manager in the farm section of the Ranch. 


The Role

The Farm Manager is responsible for:

  • the day to day running of the farm, including managing the livestock farms,  and associated crop production, in line with organic farming standards
  • maximising farm and herd performance
  • proactive financial management to support the development of the farm and generate income 
  • leading a staff team, training and ensuring health and safety standards are adhered to across the ranch
  • ranch management including forest/woodland (600 ha), private tenancy agreements both tenant and landlord, renewable energy installations and estate properties


The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • practical and proven history of managing a livestock farm
  • practical and proven experience with a track record in maximising farm and herd performance
  • excellent husbandry, herd, farm and budget management skills
  • proven ability to lead and inspire a small team whilst working directly as part of the team on a day to day basis
  • proactive soil and land management skills
  • experience of working with external contractors 
  • experience or an interest in organic farming systems and a commitment to conservation, sustainability and organic principles
  • up-to-date working knowledge of countryside stewardship schemes (desirable)
  • wider estate management experience (desirable)
  • A degree in agriculture, management or related fields (desirable)
